I don't remember who, but someone inb4'd this. Essentially said, they'll give people a taste of this power and then take it away, but giving us a less powerful and maybe even useless version.

jestdotty585124dsounds like a win for China then
self destructive choice
btw Biden was pretty nice to China. releasing their pedo spies and stuff -
retoor187423dWhahaha, too late. It's like giving a kid a toy. Let him keep it and say "Do not use it". We already have the AI tech, you can't limit it anymore. THE POWER IS OURS!
Protip: download llama405b just to be sure. Maybe your computer can't run it to day but within a few years.. Maybe! You never know when you need it. It's the best 'open source' model on the market getting close to chatgpt.
Btw, are you talking about the Biden administration? Meh, Trump is into tech and will allow it again. He doesn't care about the waste. -
Demolishun3531723d@byteasf I saw a video where someone ran next to Turdeau and called him a faggot right to his face.

Wisecrack947922dPeople like me and a hundred thousand others will just stop giving the US and affiliate companies/governments our ideas and opensource contributions and develop in private instead.
The governments of the world will lose the public-private armsrace in AI as a result.
This is a great development. It means the governments, the real people in charge, are fucking stupid as rocks. -
retoor187422d@Root everyone has a moment they find out the majority is retarted. For me it was during the pandemic. Sad, my life before was all unicorns. Now I give rarely someone the trust credit.

cprn180821dWhat's most painful with any government mandated restriction is that it only hurts people doing legitimate things for legitimate reasons. Just as criminals don't give a fuck about carrying guns without permits, some companies will never care they profit from AI trained on private data. Regardless of the laws surrounding the subject. And if that's the case, everyone should ask themselves whose interests are those laws supposed to protect.

jestdotty585121d@cprn they're to keep existing monopolies preying on everyone as they interpret they deserve to =]
thinking you're moral is how humans commit the worst atrocities
"I'm helping you!" he says as he hits his wife
the government is just helping you not hurt yourself! by hurting its people until they get mad and rise up I guess
Just learned that the existing US administration is going to restrict AI to a just a handful of allowed companies. They are talking about limiting AI like they did physics during WW2.
If you don't hate your government then you don't know the evil shit they are doing.
Not sure what will happen come January.
