What's most painful with any government mandated restriction is that it only hurts people doing legitimate things for legitimate reasons. Just as criminals don't give a fuck about carrying guns without permits, some companies will never care they profit from AI trained on private data. Regardless of the laws surrounding the subject. And if that's the case, everyone should ask themselves whose interests are those laws supposed to protect.
