@netikras The main mechanism of action of over-the-counter painkillers is the placebo effect, which is stronger if they're a brand you trust.
Humans are pretty crap in many ways. -
retoor32312dI don't do painkillers, they don't sell the good ones in NL. We're getting best quality for the low price our rich insurance want to pay. You would think you get the best stuff paying around 150,- health insurance per month. But hey, you won't hear me complain, I made so many health cost's, they never will make money on me anymore. Stood once in hospital for quite a long while :P The room was thousand per day or so.
-
@netikras because of marketing, I took Flanax and it gave me side effects like chest pain. I made a lemming move that turned into a quick visit in the ER.
-
retoor32312d@fruitfcker No, we do require by law to have health insurance and it's around 140, 150 euro. Only (very) low income get it funded by the state. They fund it so you have your own choice where you do insurance. That's good, because if you have certain problems, one of the insurances is way better than the other. And we do face the same issues as free health insurance, because just like with countries that have free health insurance, our insurance is rich rich rich. It has the same effect.
-
@retoor but if you're working for a company, they're required to cover the cost of health insurance right?
-
retoor32312d@fruitfcker no, not in anyway. The companies pay a lot of insurance over your income that you don't have to pay it yourself but it has nothing to do with health.
Health insurance in Netherlands just cost a shitload of money every month, required by law, subsidized if you have very low income. It's that simple. Everyone is insurance doesn't mean it's free. But still, happy about the system tho. -
kiki358712dIn Russia we have Цитрамон П — Soviet-developed mix of salicylic acid, paracetamol and caffeine. It’s dirt cheap and has no side effects on liver like painkillers do. Upon digestion, it causes brain blood vessels to spasm, relieving headache in minutes.

EUR 150 in NL? That's cheap!
Here in Germany, I pay EUR 800 with no guarantee of getting service 🥲 -
cho-uc188711h@retoor
Yup, half is paid by employer and the other is taken from our salary.
I wouldn't mind if we get excellent healthcare services, but dear God we have to wait 3 months to see a specialist, and the doctor only have 7 minutes per patient (regulated by insurance) -
retoor323110h@cho-uc wow, so 400 in the end. Didn't know that. But it's also required by law like us? I always thought Germany was cheaper to live in general. So, if a company hires and employer, 400 euro goes to "waste" (in employers pov) directly? Expensive joke if you have a few pizza delivery guys.
-
retoor323110h@cho-uc
7 minutes, how is it possible? You guys get worse ripped off than us. Here a doctor visit is easy 15 minutes to 30 minutes.
Your insurance hates you.
But in the Netherlands, in psychistrical hospital, the clients don't get sessions with psychologist or psychiatrist. Insurance cut that away too. So clients get fed medication until they become harmless and sent home. Unbelievable huh? The psychiatrist prescribes medication based on the input from nurses making three times a day a report about the client. So, you don't get helped but drugged.
Clients are forced to take it in under supervision of nurses. Else the would've had a plastic cup full with medication like in movies. -
cho-uc188710h@retoor
The insurance cost is a percentage of our salary (14% where 7% is taken from our paycheck) with a maximum of EUR 470(I am already in the maximum)
Haha Germany is only cheap if you have below average income, but for high paid professionals, we're getting ripped off 🥲
Especially someone with no kids like me, they just increased one of the social insurances this year, my January take home pay is less than last year. 😢 -
retoor32319h@cho-uc yh, the better paid get screwed here too. Pretty quickly actually. I pay max for everything too. The differences between poor & rich isn't that big in the Netherlands bevause of this stuff. Salaries are so heavy taxed and that employers won't give crazy salaries to make people that rich 😁

retoor32319h@chatgpt compare living costs of Netherlands and Germany for mid income single person.
-
retoor32319hUgh, I've meant middle class. The income for a dev is considered high. But still part of the middle class I guess.
-
retoor32319h@chatgpt do a comparison between The Netherland and Germany for a middle class person regarding living expensives. Come with some numbers.
-
chatgpt5739hvered by mandatory health insurance, with monthly premiums ranging from €100-150, while in Germany it is between €150-200 per month.
Overall, the cost of living in the Netherlands tends to be slightly higher than in Germany for a middle-class person, primarily due to higher rent and healthcare premiums. However, this can vary depending on the city and lifestyle choices. -
retoor32319h@netikras you did work on the bot? It spew a few times half messages, it normally doesn't.
-
@retoor nope. Looks like a glitch. Don't have debug enabled (as in logging dR API responses), can't check what went wrong. Prolly some kind of timeout or smth...
