Do you watch stuff in fast motion? What kind of monsters are doing that? My best friend was doing it, and now turns out my wife is like that as well.

Why would you watch something in x2. I swear young people don't have any respect for the present moment. Everything have to be rushed, finish early. Would you listen to music in x2 speed so you can finish the song earlier?

I don't get it

I don't, except for company training videos and stuff like that.

@Hazarth and that is why you will be saved when the purge happens

Only boomers complain who can't keep up mentally
Music gets distorted when sped up but regular videos/voice just result in less time wasted without any downsides

@devRancid downside? it's annoying as shit. Imagine somebody talking like that IRL. I'd punch tf out of him in 5 minutes

@devRancid if you're wasting your time do something else lmao

I don't see the point in wasting time if you're able to do it faster. I'm also not interested in spending 10 minutes to hear the 2 actual minutes worth of information contained in the video.

    I also skip integrated ads.

@cuddlyogre I get it for informative video or bullcrap tutorial or something but for fiction??? what's the point?

@antigermanist To fit more videos into your day. Or just to listen to it faster. Or to speed up intentionally slow delivery that enables them to hit 10 minutes. Except for music, I don't see a reason not to do it.

Why not do it? is my question.

@cuddlyogre why not do it for music?

@antigermanist The tempo is a core part of any song, so any changes in speed would affect your experience with it. But if you want to hear it faster for whatever reason, then go ahead.

@cuddlyogre the tempo is also a core part of a theatrical performance, including a tv show, no?

@cuddlyogre I tried. Everything become drum and bass.

@antigermanist In an artsy way, maybe. But if you can still enjoy it, then why not?

That said, most people watching videos at 2x are doing it on websites so they can skip the artificial padding so the uploader can run ads. Most modern movies are paced well enough that watching them faster is really only needed if you really want to watch it but don't have a time limit.
