lorentz1529910dIt's taken a decade but I think I'm starting to convince my father that a secret conspiracy isn't prerequisite for companies or political groups in a similar situation to act towards their goals and against their opponents, and that any advanced cooperation we witness is adequately explained by the long list of well-publicized consortia and alliances which explicitly exist for that purpose.

lorentz1529910dI've had the same discussion with many people and no one takes it well. People are terrified by the possibility that the world isn't inherently nice and deliberate malice supported by an overwhelming centralized power isn't needed to make it terrible.

jestdotty589110dthe bought changes don't "end". they're stopgapped and sit permanently stuck with the power of money, fraudsters, and people who can't accept they were wrong and duped so will argue this to their grave as human psychology apparently goes
when the old people die, physics will still be there, and then the pendulum swings back from the fake
Big societal change ended how you predicted/in a way that you like — finally, society is healing, the truth wins
Big societal change ended in a way that you dislike — big pharma/big money/big government/big corpos made it happen with propaganda/vaccines/microchips/5G/cosmic rays
