Interview: looked like I'm gonna use headless cms and jamstack ecosystem

Actual job: xml server with pike for the backend. Frontend served serverside + vuejs so good luck doing anything reactive without refreshing the page

After complaining I got to work on my tech stack but no signs of jamstack/headless. Even worse experience!

Optimizing my RESTful API plugin, used in a CMS to make it headless, was extremely satisfying.
Thanks to caching and alorithm improvements, I brought the response times down by a factor of 150.
The caching also includes dependency tags thus it will automatically invalidate on changes in the dependent element.

Me: I need a new website. Let's make it with NodeJS / AdonisJS so I get a grip on that tech.

Also me: mmh, how about I use it as an API so that I can plug some other things in it?

Also me: successfully develop a headless CMS based on an API, with AdonisJS. Not perfect, but runs like a charm.

Holy shit. I've been working on a project for the last few months. It's been going fairly well all things considered. We're currently at the tail-end of the project and are set to be dev complete next Friday.

We're on a headless CMS + Gatsby and decided to use a front-end framework (This is important to the story) to "speed development time."

PM comes to me yesterday and inquires about functional/visual QA on IE11. IE-What?! This framework I was told I had to use doesn't support IE11.. like.. at all, and now we need to support IE11, at the ass-end of this project, cause 60% of the traffic on their current site uses IE11? Oh come on!

So its looking like we get to re-write a few components from scratch. Then we get to try and fix the display issues for the other ones... FML, I was looking forward to being done with this so I could take a week off and go recharge before Thanksgiving garbage.

Have you tried an open-source headless CMS? Any recommendations? (No WordPress allowed)

This is the second company I've joined where someone has chosen contentful instead of just using one of the many other coherent headless cms.

Why does all the data look like shit? Why am I being forced to use their shitty js lib. I want an endpoint through rtkquery damn it like the rest of the app.

Contentful can burn in hell.

My wife is buying a small business. They have a website that I'm going to have to take over, and I have a feeling I'm going to want to redo it (it's not terrible looking, but I'm pretty sure it's WP, so just no thank you).

Was just wondering if anybody had any reccomendations for a cheap/free headless CMS?

Saw Ghost for $25/month but it has "user" limitations (as in, seemingly, limits to your site traffic). I'm just basically looking for cheap image/blog hosting queryable from a REST/GQL API. I'm considering just making a simple frontend for my wife to write markdown blogs up to S3 or something if there's no cheaper option.

so I am using Directus for headless cms and I'm always looking around for other options such as Contentful, but the problem with Contentful is that it is hella expensive in my opinion (249$/month at least after you exceed the free tier with limited capabilities)

So the real question is, do you guys know of any other Headless CMS?

Need recommendations for CMS compatible with c# and .net core. Headless CMS are fine too
