Made my research about mechanical keyboard and was worried that my first one was going to be too loud at work.

I can hear the majority of hammering cave trolls smashing their membrane keyboards louder than I can hear my MX Brown.

This shit is like heaven for fingers.

As a keyboard enthusiast I can’t help but cringe when my coworker slaps and slams down on his 10 year old gross disgusting Logitech membrane keyboard.

Struggling before on office setup the previous dev using the keyboard really mashed the enter key on this poor membrane keyboard

spilt coffee on my good mechanical keyboard and it fried something because it keeps typing random letters... I've been reduced back to working on a membrane keyboard and my God is it less satisfying...

Hi, I've been wondering why people say that mechanical keyboards are better than the ones made of membrane?

Does anybody have any good analogies for explaining the difference between frontend and backend?

I have been thinking about a possible keyboard analogy since a keyboard is very well understood these days. This only really works for membrane keyboards, but that's fine.

We can all guess where this is going. If you remove the keycaps from a membrane keyboard, you pretty much cannot use it unless you poke into the membrane with something else. So the keycaps are the frontend. They are generally labeled so you know what they do, they are organized into some form of layout which can vary even on a country-by-country basis, they may have pretty colors and they make it easier to interface with the backend. The backend is the rest and the users don't really have to know how it works, its just supposed to work.

For mechanicals, obviously, the removal of the keycaps means it becomes a shitty frontend that is not easy to use, but does have great potential.

Keyboard question,
Ive been looking for a new keyboard for a while, im currently using some wireless HP membrane keyboard, no idea of the model.

I stumbled upon a Corsair Gaming K70 LUX RGB MX Silent.
Anyone have experience with this keyboard? Is it silent as the name indicates?

I really cant make up my mind if i should buy it. Its price is lowered 33% this weekend, but my current keyboard functions just fine. Usually id say i shouldnt, but a part of me wants to. Im split in half xD

What's the best keyboard for coding, what do you prefer? Mechanical or membrane?
