This story could be over but no, have a plot twist.
All pcs connected to our wifi network as we tried to install Chrome ( cause edge sucks), realized it takes hours to install.

our network wasn't that bad usually.
opens windows store on one laptop by accident.

candy crush... bubble witch saga...mcaffee.
spent about 4h uninstalling bloatware and teaching windows not to reinstall it over and over again...

Microsoft sucks...

and I didn't even mention the "tell us why you think you don't need McAfee premium protection pl0x" and "you really sure you don't want to try edge as default browser? is really fast and stuff" dialog fields...

Here we go again… a new update for devRant unofficial UWP blocked by Microsoft because contains "profanity"...

Interesting fact:
The screenshots which contain """profanity""" (probably bad words are enough to violate the rules) are still the same you can already find in the store, so even without this update they are visible...

Logged into windows after a year and straight away ran into an error

How do you guys/girls explain to potential new customers that you can perfectly work in a structured business environment and follow the rules, but also that you're assertive enough to oppose desicions being made based on bias, misunderstanding, fanboyism, or grave stupidity.

I don't oppose customers, i oppose stupidity unfounded.
Example from experience

How to make that clear!

Am I the only one worried with the OS wars lately? Microsoft and Apple trying to gain even more control on everything and Linux remaining at less than 2% on the desktop. People are oblivious to the fact that their personal freedom is at risk, and don't you dare tell me otherwise. Companies knowing what we search or what files we have on our computer, having the ability to control us and force us to follow their rules. We have a choice, and I'm not talking about destroying the economical system a la Mr. Robot, but moving to the Open Source world, not because it's more secure, faster or some such shit, but because it's the only way to ensure freedom on one of the biggest part of our lifes, the digital part. My concerns may be exceeding the normal, and I'll hate it to be right, but I'm afraid that if this goes on, in a few years, we'll understand that we made a big mistake...

University switched to Office 365. Just realized they implemented "Focused" inbox mode that auto filters messages microsoft deems less important. It filtered 3 important emails from last week. Just give us back the ability to make our own rules and filters again!!

I feel like such an idiot every time I use windows just slightly beyond clicking buttons. I'm trying to write a very simple macro to simply send an email out when I receive an email with a particular header. and no, outlook doesnt support that with rules. so now I have to use this garbage IDE, writing a script in a 25 year old language, with every bell and whistle button you could possibly think of and no way of figuring out how to do anything without being balls deep in a decade old forum post. I hate microsoft more and more every time I use it. I thought maybe if I got good and started "dev"ing with it more, I'd hate it less, but no... its always some super clunky application with shit tons of buttons and you dont know what they do, and when the app breaks, it gives you some hex number and nothing else, and sends all the good stuff to microsoft so they can fix it in the next "big update" thatll fuck up youre entire days worth of work and kill an hour of your precious time. Ugh.

I just listened to the devops at my new place recite a strategy that I recognised to be git flow. I surprisingly wasn't traumatised or suffer the ptsd I have at the sound or sight of SLACK and Microsoft teams, despite using them roughly within the same era

For some reason, the instructions for git flow now sound straightforward:

Pull from staging. Checkout to a fresh branch on your local. Push there. Once approved, merge to staging or send a pull request to staging

But slack and teams are an indication that the gig/position is going to hit the rocks soonest. Has happened more than once, it just makes me sick now. The beep of their notifications, their ui, their stupid rules and regulations why it doesn't work on the browser but want me to install their dumb apps on my phone (even if you use desktop mode)

Talk about hard to learn frameworks

The company wants to implement a CRM with the cleansing rules built and managed by the business. What software did you buy or stack did you build on; for business directed data cleansing? We are a Microsoft shop but we can adapt is the solution is in the “magic quadrant”.

The realization that their is no free will, Microsoft rules everything including you.
If for no other reason than that they've claimed every acronym.

Microsoft server licensing - so complex that it's probably easier to add Postgres support to my app and run the database server on Linux instead, than to try to make sense of MS license rules.
