Working at a big-ish tech is like a completely different world.

Do y'all use an OKR (Objectives and Key Results) process for your teams? What are your thoughts on it?

1. Leave big company of 1.5y for new job in different country
2. New company tries getting me a visa for 2 months and fails
3. Puts bogus blame on me and ends contract 2 weeks before my "temporary visa" expires coz their incompetent HR couldn't get the documents right.

Fuckers didn't have ONE COMPLAINT against me so UNASSIGNED me from COMPLETED Jira tickets to ruin my OKR stats just to build grounds for this (since last week)

And when I protested, blamed some automation but DIDNT change the spreadsheet. (should've rung some bells for me, but naïve me believed their reasoning)

Big company meeting last week. Engineering Lead put a slide just about me coz my fixes brought a 20-FUCKIN-X performance improvement.
He said "oh I put a slide about [me], I dont see it", HR who was in-charge of compiling the slides said "Oh you sent the slide too late so we didnt put it".

I shrugged it back then thinking oh well but in hind-sight Fuckers went OUT OF THEIR WAY to bury anything I did to build grounds for termination coz THEY couldn't get the visa.

This is true I swear... I once worked on part of a project "optimization" that required, running a job on sidekiq in the background that spawns multiple threaded RPC calls on RabbitMQ (and be I/O blocking) till the jobs are done (or failed) so that it updates the status of the master object (that has the associated objects processed) and sends an email to the ops manager (just a summary email)... instead of using database locks... or dropping the email requirement...

I did it without arguing because I've already quit the job a while ago...

Why is it that people start to care about quarterly objective key results only at the end of a quarter?

You know, those stretch goals decides by management grounded on wishful thinking rather than realistic planning.

I should plan my vacation on the last weeks of the quarters.

So...., how many of you didn't know yet that Jesus knew javascript?

If we really try to reinvent the wheel, and if we did that successfully, I bet it will be 2x better than at least all the unfancy stuff in the dev-market

It's simply the Parkinson's Law guys, it says that 'work' expands as until it reaches it's deadlines (if any), so for indefinite time, I guess I'll plan and admire many projects but COMPLETE NONE!

DEADLINES ARE NECESSARY,
