Omfg wtf is going on with bitcoin?
Don't know what makes me crazy about its growth in 2017: the fact that I have no money to buy some or the fact that when I have it might collapse ... Aaaargh9 -
I started working my new job as a programmer(c#, java, etc.) in a very good programming company.
My first task was to optimise their DB. The DB has indexes and around 3mil rows. The db is slowwww as fuck.
So i made a windows service that reorganises indexes (Depending on blank pages and fragmentation of the index) in DB each week on time.
But as soon as new rows start to come in, the fragmentation of the indexes just sky rocket.
I tried with changing idexes so there will accually be onli indexes we need.
Can anyone help me how can i fix fragmentation problem so the select querries will be much faster.
Sorry if I don't know the solution, I'm new at this task.
Thank you!7 -
Basically anything space related.
Playing KSP, watching rocket launches (sadly not live tho), watching the stars and planets in our night sky, watching the ISS fly overhead and also some very-low-level astrophotography, which is hard in a very light-polluted area, but can still produce astonishing results.
The universe is amazing, I love learning about it, seeing it and being a part of a community that is excited about the future of the human civilization.1 -
-- Have you ever self hosted a Linux/Free Bsd server at home?
-- What was the maintenance like in terms of operation and cost compared to an online service?
I and my partner are planning to self host our Ubuntu server locally because currently though we spend less than $1100 a month on Azure with moderate CPU usage but we plan to scale out with believes that the server cost might sky-rocket.
We made a budget of $25k for the setup which includes cost of hardware, bandwidth and power.
We also made some research concerning most used hardwares for home servers because we really are newbees talk of hardware. What we found are options related to the Intel Xeon as CPU, some others say use NAS, while some are more of advertising.
$25k on the desk,
we care more about speed than of space. How can we make the setup totally worth it? You don't have to spare us a change, just some headlight and way to go.
Your advice are needed. Thank you.8
