Do NOT build something as fast as possible. You are going to end up spending more time trying to refactor the mess than youd have spent drawing a class diagram.7

Too fast.
And it's not a good thing.
While we start to think that we get a hang of something, there is new thing coming out.
Result is nobody knowing anything well, nothing is developed properly.
Hardwares, languages, frameworks, methodologies. Everything is going too fast.
Or may be I'm just a slow sloth.14 -
After continuously trying to approve my Unity app on app store. I was finally able to do it in just 6 months. Thanks to the 'robust and fast' process of Apple.

Developer superstition, never say something is easy, fast or straightfoward.
It will take weeks to develop, months to test and debug and you will consider change jobs just to stay away of that code8 -
Commit fast, commit often.
I lost a day's worth of code once, because I wanted to commit all of them in the evening right before I was to go home. Then I mistakenly hit `git checkout .` instead of `git add .`.

I've been tasked to do website debugging.
For Internet Explorer 11.
On a Mac.
I have to use a virtual machine to get Windows on a mac just so I can test on internet explorer.
This mac is not fast.
This virtual machine is even less fast.
The internet explorer on this virtual machine on this mac is the least fast.
Even worse, this website is a pile of garbage. It's slower than my grandma.
My grandma is dead.
You can't get any slower than that, so I thought.
But then I got introduced to the result of making a wordpress site with over 300 pieces of media and 20 plugins.
If you are one of the people that's smart enough to stay away from wordpress: I assure you that it fucks your site up beyond repair.
So anyway, how was your day?3 -
Expectations: I will program like the perfect lover! Fast, strong, safe, and with a passion others only dream of! I will stay up all night loving my code.
Reality: I code like a cheap whore. In fast bouts with whatever personal project will pay me the most in progress. My emotional experience is meh, it is sloppy, the code asks me to do things I don't want to but I say yes to get it to leave me alone, I don't use proper protection, and I am usually working stupid hours.2 -

Too many companies in the past years have been focusing on moving rendering to the client, and not optimizing their webpages that we lost sight of making efficient and fast websites.6 -
"I met with a potential client today and part of their opening gambit was how they were looking for revolutionary work delivered within a tight timescale, and if the work could be done a reduced rate then they’d be able to send a load more work our way. … They were saying that they wanted work that was fast, good, and cheap. And if the work was fast, good, and cheap enough, the reward would be the offer of more work that is fast, good, and cheap. … Let me be clear about this, these people are evil, and their work is poison. For the people walking slowly in the middle of the passageways, walk the fuck fast or walk on one side of the corridor. People like me get caught in a dilemma whether to walk fast pushing you to a side or walk damn fucking slow behind you.4

Kind of !dev (Because my research uses code for computational power)
Ah, research.
The worst part of doing mathematical research as a high schooler is that there are no real hard-and-fast deadlines because school is constantly getting in the way, so any such deadlines would be quickly overrun, but that means that it is playing second fiddle to absolutely everything else with a deadline (aka everything), including my heaps of other mathematical work that is due once a week that I cannot possibly bash through fast enough to have time to do research. -
Can someone tell how does Instagram load images so fast without any delays ?

I've recently launched a node js package fast-freeze. It makes an object read only by converting it into series of functions. Though it is faster but looks ugly to use. Eg giveMe("server")("port").
Any suggestion to make it less ugly?3 -
Im tasked to investigate a stored proc that is slow at certain times ( 20-30mins ) and fast at other times ( 10-15 secs ).
After following suggestions i found out that adding NOLOCK hint on all the select queries makes the execution time fast ( 10-20 secs) .
Although i know that adding NOLOCK means a dirty read of possible incorrect data, does it justify the performance boost?
Speed or data correctness?4 -
Fast one for you guys

Ardour keeps telling me my hard drive isn't fast enough for playback. I'm using a Thinkpad t420 with an SSD, so the only reason I can think that my hard drive wouldn't be fast enough is if swap is slowing it down. I wanted to record music over winter break but I couldn't because of that issue. Music in Linux is frustrating. I will say that antergos made the process of installing jack, guitarix, rakarrack, and ardour a breeze though, so that's something.4

Evolving so fast that we would make frameworks to keep track of frameworks that make their own frameworks out of frameworks.
Real AI shall be birthed in this manner. -

Behold! This is the first time in my career when Jest and unit testing in general actually helped me 😂
Spent two days moving from a fucking slow piece of crap called Gatsby to Vite, trying to comprehend the difference between TS aliases, Babel aliases and Linaria aliases. Found an answer inside a totally unrelated issue explaining Jest stuff, good job on documentation, Linaria!
Vite is fast. Crazy fast. Forget about Webpack, Parcel and things alike — Vite doesn't even need to bundle JS.
Gatsby was slow to the point of my computer's audio glitching, I'm not even talking about the OS interface lags.
Vite is fast to the point that I don't actually need a new MacBook.1 -
Want to see hair falling of a developer's head?
Just watch him trying to get some millions of fast and good random numbers.6 -

They are fast, easy to make, and open-source. I've posted three that I've made online.
I wonder if the decline is due to userscripts.org shutdown.2 -

I know another Apple iPhone post but hear me out on this one. So the new iPhones support fast charging right? Now supposedly/apparently when you buy an iPhone 8 or X it comes with a regular power brick and cable which means you will have to drop another 85$ to actually fast charge your iPhone... like what?

I was never really into programming which led to bad grades in programming courses I had to take in my college which are mostly based on C. Later, I've realized that it's an easy way to make pocket money ;) as I was a bit good at it and my learning curve is a bit fast, which made everything happen real fast. This is when I started of with Java which was crucial in building an enterprise application. This was the time I made some real progress in programming.

what on earth do games like starcraft II do that even on more modern hardware their 'game modes' take awhile to initialize ?
why is the data not already organized for fast load ?11 -
I cant believe how powerful and FAST nextjs is. Very smooth and lightweight. Easy to work with.
Also angular became super fast and smooth. 5 years ago in 2018 i remember working in angular and it was not that fast. The project structure was a bit messy. But now everything has drastically improved and became simplified.
I love both now. Happy to be working in both2 -
So do I want a quick test or a fast test? 🤔
Don't large companies like HP ever proofread their menus? This doesn't need users to test for them to realize it's bad. Smh.2 -

Huh. I must be going nuts.
Just for a moment there... I was content with myself. I'm not even sure why, but something just washed over me, then disappeared, as fast as it came to me.
Strange.1 -
Omg nextjs 14 is so good. I cant believe this. Server actions are so powerful. This shit makes you prototype and move RAPIDLY FAST. And the framework itself is fast as cum! Unbelievable. No wonder every website lately is built in nextjs. This framework is definitely the future of web. It made working with databases blazingly simple. Prisma ORM is unbelievably flexible. The shit you can build with this framework has no fucking limits! It has /api folder to just add restful apis and just reuse the same prisma methods from shared lib functions and boom you can now scale the project to a mobile app!
All of this bullshit took me YEARS to learn how to do properly in a regular frontend-backend separated type of project. While I learned this nextjs shit blazing fast. Am i missing something or is this framework too good to be true?
I'll bend over for nextjs4 -
So i wrote complex, great WP framework using parts of nette, latte template engin, shit tons of my code, has many usefull features. Is fast, puting barier between me and WP shit. You have no idea how fast my development is now.
Now, i writing eshop component, looking good, working great, is extendable, fast and so.
Reason 1: WP is piece of shit, woocommerce too, CMB has no fucking sense, fuck ACF and many other WP tools.
Reason 2: I'm too lazy to read.
Question: I spent months of coding, looking for ideas, and make tenths implemenations because:
1: WP is piece of shit, woocommerce too, CMB has no fucking sense, fuck ACF and many other WP tools.
2: I'm too lazy to read.
Please decide, i honestly don't know.1 -

Entrusting one's hard-earned money to the wrong hands can have devastating consequences. My journey began innocently enough, sparked by the success story of a former coworker who boasted of her newfound wealth and attributed it to the guidance of an investment coach. Intrigued by her lavish lifestyle, I delved deeper into the world of stock trading, eager to replicate her success. However, what followed was a series of red flags and suspicious transactions that left me questioning the legitimacy of the entire operation. Despite completing numerous trades within my first week, attempts to withdraw my profits were met with resistance and dubious excuses.
