WordPress needs no introduction, it powers a significant portion of the web while having some of the most nightmare inducing code i have seen in all my years as a developer.
Just look at the API, i mean what the actual fuck is that?

I used to almost agree with everyone who hates on WordPress for being needlessly complicated and convoluted and with really bad coding. Now, let me introduce you to my new nightmare...Joomla.3

Well, I helped a client get their website back from being redirected to a microsoft scam website. Even though the restoring process was a nightmare, it feels good to get things working like it was suppose to :)3

TL;DR: Fuck Wordpress and their shitty “editor”.
Client told me the Wordpress editor was unusual slow on their site. I inspected the network traffic, while fiddling around in the admin pages. What I found was an even worse nightmare than expected. Somehow the fucktard of an “engineer” decided to implement the spell check module, to parse all other text areas on the page - even the fucking image sources. The result is a browser sending a GET request to fetch the images from the server every time an author triggers a keyup-event. Disabled the spell check and everything was back to budget-ineffective-feces-Wordpress normal.3 -
I. HATE. DELL. WITH. MY. GUTS.
Their low tiers products are full black plastic overpriced fuckshit, if you press too much the cover you can actually destroy your display. Fuck shitty laptops and fuck this shitty laptop in particular. It's slow. It's so slooooooow. It's everflying fucking slow motion, being on the web is like being in the matrix while dodging bullets made of wordpress plugins. The only good thing I can say is that is living right now, it has been... Three years? I only picked it because of high discount and ubuntu preinstalled (that made me think: oh, maybe they have components that are linux compatible regardless of distros. It was not). I'm enjoying Manjaro, when I'll have the skillz i'm going full Arch.
I will start university this fall. It's going to be a math major. I absolutely need something better than this anyway. I am also freaking out because I don't know which genre of software they could want to make me install and if they're windows/mac only. In the meanwhile I do photography, video, design and as you may suppose Adobe is often my go-to; I also have to build a workstation at home. I am freaking out because WELL FUCK WINDOWS 10 AND ITS PRIVACY NIGHTMARE PERIOD.
Which laptop I buy?
How well does heavy software run in a Windows virtual machine (on the desktop, not the laptop)?10 -
Look, I get it. Wordpress sucks. It’s bloated. It’s slow. It’s not elegant. It’s a nightmare to debug and code for. The plugin ecosystem is an insecure, confusing mess of outdatedness and issues.
We can all agree that in a perfect world all power to determine everything about a website, from the code to the content, would be in our power as developers. But we don’t live in a perfect world. People want convenience, even at the cost of performance and security, and they will inevitably resent technologists who refuse to give it to them. We do ourselves and our customers a disservice when we only do what we feel is in our own best interests or preferences and not what will help them with their realities.
Yes, it sucks. Yes, it’s a pain. Yes, it’s in demand and there’s nothing any of us can do to change that.
And that’s all I have to say about that.5 -
Well.. Free and stunning in one sentence in the internet??? 😂 😂 😂. Wix is my biggest nightmare, As I have to do a website for a client with wix... I even proposed js+wordpress, but no, he wants wix...3

A client wants me to build his website. He want a WordPress one, with a tool named Elementor to let him build stuff and upgrade the website by his own.
Seriously, Wtf is this shit !? That's a pure nightmare to work with !5 -
ArseHole, for simple CRUD, my client suggest to use WordPress. Then they added payment and booking system. I asked why still using WordPress????? It's nightmare to work three peoples on functions.php file.
Fuck off. Go fuck yourself. 😣7 -
Holy fuck, I though working with Wordpress was a fucking nightmare, but it’s a dream compared to the shit I am estimating maintenance on...
It’s running on Asp.net and the Sitecore cms... I have no fucking clue what the fuck is going on anywhere
I’ve estimated 3-4 days for doing basic maintenance like improving SEO and fix some minor semantics. Everything is wrapped in a fucking <form> element, I mean every fucking thing. It goes;
<body><form method=POST>shit content</form><body>2 -
This is your yearly dystopian reminder that Wordpress enjoys a 43.5% website market share. I think it was lower last year at around 41%. So it grew I guess.

And they say web dev isn't a real programmer job...
Full disclosure: I think php is fine.6 -
I am trying to make a simple portfolio website nothing fancy. I have to install wordpress clean for thee fourth time now :D I read on a GoDaddy Support Page that I should type in the domain I was trying to set up into my settings in the wordpress. Didn't seem that weird at first. I did that and now I can't log in anymore because for some reason wordpress won't accept the old domain. I couldn't take down the page because (1) the page didn't ask me if it was helpful (2) I am not a GoDaddy customer but apparently they killed my website :D
Also, funny domains in general. There are 0 Tutorials on how to set up a simple domain from another website than the hoster. It's a nightmare that (apparently) has gone on for weeks. I don't know what to do. It's so crazy. I mean, I can learn algebra, it will take time yes, It's gonna be difficult yes, but at least I don't have 5 billion 3 paragraph articles having conflicting opinions on what problem they are trying to solve. Becoming a developer today must be hell.
But my favorite part was when I realised that I had to type in the domain I want also in the settings of my hoster which I found in an article I only came across by realising that none of the domain support I had talked to could help me :D So I did that and what it did was my domain works BUT my website looked completely fucked up xD
It's crazy. You would think it would get easier.4 -
Or when I'm working on some legacy mess of php code and changing nothing and then reverting even that causes the whole code to act in some nonsensical way with three buttons hooked to the same code doing three completely different things and none of them having any remote connection to what is in the code. Sometimes I get it to get its act somehow together by fucking rebooting my computer (???). What the fuck is wrong with php and wordpress in particular? Could it be any more of a mess?
I literally commented out my whole fucking code, rebooted the server. Is there some cache I'm not aware of involved? It all feels like some fucked up nightmare.6 -
Old man wants to update site/blog. What can I set up that would be (very) easy for him to use (add posts). Currently on WordPress and it's a nightmare!2
