Learning to use Singletons in Java. Then reading online that it might be an antipattern. Software Engineering ... 👌10

That moment when you are totally concentrated with a cool new implentetation and your boss comes and occupies you the whole day with a bugfix.. -_-

You know that Elixir takes documentation very serious when you only have around 120 lines on a Module and 110 are from documentation.3

Anyone else here having health issues getting in the way of our hobby? I understand that our field is risky. Any actual advice you can give that you yourselves did to be healthy again? Thank you so much.9

Dear backend dev:
No data is not an error for fuck sake. Don't want 404, or messages if the search criteria filters out all values. Give me a empty array.
Is this hard to understand that we need a team meeting to discuss?

First step to learning Django. Wish me luck!
Trying new stuff always excites me and anxious at the same time.15 -
When I was 12 i had a Friday afternoon course, as they called it, in QBasic. Nothing fancy but I learned that 'I wanted to work with computers'.
10 years later I got my first programming job. It was with the old Cognos Powerhouse language on OpenVMS. Does anyone remember that?
I had that job for 4 years and it took me another 10 (and several other IT jobs) before I started to learn Java, which I do now for 2 years.
That's my career story in a tiny nutshell 😎 -
I came to my sister's husband, programmer, and asked him for a book to learn how to program. He gave me a giant tome (probably to scare me out) and I read it page by page doing all the tasks. For me it was like a magic, I couldn't believe that I can write something in the notepad and then see computer do stuff because I told it to do so.5

My first school as a kid learned me how to build websites. Then highschool got me to the point where I really liked it and I selftaught making android apps at home. Now I'm in college and I actually learn how to do it.

To be honest, me starting to code is just a moment when I suddenly decided that yeah, let's code. Then I learned HTML and Javascript, basically just bulldozing through whatever tutorials I can find before ending up choosing IT in university.

Microsoft announced Visual Studio 2017. Yeah, Party.
I am so hyped, because with it comes C#7.0. I am speaking of tuples, pattern matching and local functions. This will be great. Soon ☺️🎉6 -
"C'est en forgeant qu'on devient forgeron", a French proverb.
(Means : it's by smithing that you become a blacksmith)
