yeah, we aren't immutable, but still, the only thing that matters is the sum of our actions. That's the only thing that says something about us once we're dead. Do you know why we don't say “before the big bang”? It's not because the time itself only appeared during the big bang, so saying “before” and “big bang” is like dividing by zero. Far from it! We don't say before the big bang because the singularity from which everything originated did erase what was before. You couldn't have deduced anything by observing that tiny jam-packed singularity.

@atheist I don’t think I agree. As a bipolar patient that lives with a MDD patient, I know how not just thoughts but the whole worldview can change drastically when the medication changes. When you’re adjusting your SSRI dosage, you _will_ be contemplating suicide. Every single person thinks that, there are no exceptions I know of, and I know quite a few people who take them. Those thoughts will vanish completely once the target dosage is reached. This is why you monitor a person very closely when they change their medication scheme
Suicide is a serious topic both psychologically and philosophically, but this instance of contemplating it says nothing about the thinker as a person.

@devJs how can you read my mind again and again? My relationship with music is the same! Same with poetry for that matter. My brain makes legitimate bangers when I sleep, both music and lyrics, but quickly writing them down seconds after I wake up is VERY challenging. I bet you already know that :D

@spongessuck wow, good for you! I always wanted a Les Paul though, or any HH guitar for that matter. But my weird ass made it impossible:

1. If I pick up a guitar and don't hear a clean ass strat, I begin to literally suffocate. Not as dramatic as people with peanut allergies when they eat peanuts, but it's heavy manual breathing for me still.

2. I can't haz two guitares cuz THER CAN ONLY BE ONE

I'm thinking about a HH archtop though. Those things always fascinated me.

This is what dependency-free JS feels like. JS with dependencies though… if you have Sass, it will NEVER work. Just six months with no activity, and npm install will fail with some obscure error. The moral of the story: lockfiles good, Sass bad.

While I admit that I didn't have problems with food growing up, I know _exactly_ what it feels like when your mom has unhealthy relationships with religion. About hobos though… we have them in Russia, but they aren't allowed to take the money for themselves. They pay gangsters that protect them, and they're left with pennies, but they have no other choice.

@retoor I agree with your stance on your country's politics. I hope you understand that “I don't know one poor person, therefore poor people don't exist” is flawed.

@retoor psychological issues are still valid. We can't blame those people for their mental health situation. It's our job as a society to include and integrate those people to make their life at least tolerable. Think free rehabs and naloxone, free emergency care for drug-related problems without the risk of getting arrested for drug possession, free housing (Finland), etc

@retoor every country has the poverty line that, if your income is lower than that, you're considered poor. For example, you may not be able to afford to live in a big city where the rent is high. Granted, the poor in Lesotho are way poorer than the poor in the Netherlands.

The fact that you're even able to say what you're saying about the poor in your country is the testament to amazing achievements of how your society functions. I bet everyone gets free healthcare, working hours are heavily regulated and enforced, you get mandatory vacations, unions, and other lefty perks. Oh how I want to live there!

@Lensflare I once made a porn watch dial for Apple Watch by creating four fake contacts with porn avatars and assigning them as shortcut actions on all four areas of some watch face. Four small NSFW pics that open full screen when clicked is less boring than just a photo watch face with a NSFW pic
