Found a pretty cool company asking for job applications via POST request 😎
..almost incorrectly formatted my JSON 😅10 -
100 applications did not do the job. 1 night out did...
After approximately 3 months of endless applications, interviews and rejections i was feeling depressed. One of those nights i went drinking and ended up in a club at 3am...i was tired. I wanted to leave. My gf wanted to stay and tried hard to convince me. As part of that effort, she introduced me to a guy who she claimed to have similar interests with me.....
....4 hours later...I got the job. I am now writing this story from my office...11 -
Please do rename the "master" branch to "Führer". The umlaut will probably catch a bunch of applications that aren't UTF-8 ready.14
-
What the crap is it with job applications and requiring freaking videos now?
I'm not some social butterfly that wants to be all friendly with everyone and a part of their goddamn lives. Give me a problem and/or some code and I'll happily make it work; give me an extrovert with a goddamn video call fetish and I'll fucking leave.
I'm an engineer, not your salaried girlfriend.28 -
Whenever I need to find bugs in my product, mostly mobile applications, I give it to my 5 year old son and say "Go, do your thing!"5
-
The professor teaching my Web Applications course (which is taught in PHP) just admitted to learning PHP two weeks before the course started 🤦🏻♂️26
-
Just remember, if someone ever makes a colony on Mars, you may have to support their timezone in your applications. And their day is longer, so a simple offset from UTC won’t do....14
-
kinda creative:
A customer got an error in one of our applications. He made a screenshot, printed the screenshot, scanned the printed screenshot and attached the scanned jpeg to the e-mail :-D6 -
1. Spend a week learning InDesign and create an awesome resume.
2. Upload and send the PDF resume around with applications.
3. Have ppl ask for a Word file...16 -
Best: actually getting something working out there and having it visited by devRanters! (security/privacy blog)
Worst: rewriting entire applications because my code often fucking sucks2 -
Wish Adobe would take a similar approach like Microsoft and release their Applications for Linux.. so I could use Photoshop and Lightroom there and ditch OS X completely...10
-
I applied to Amazon recently not really thinking about it I was just bored. Dropped my CV and I was asked to fill in why would I want to work in that position. I un-ironically put “It sounds like a lot of fun”, got rejected instantly then got an unrelated message from an Amazon recruiter from another division inviting me to apply, rejected it because it didn’t sound as fun.
I’m an honest bloke I just want to have fun.11 -
My first name has 2 letters. For Some web applications, I have to use fake name..... because my name failed in string.length check.11
-
Hey there!
Just joined DevRant, it's fucking amazing!!!
Where was this all my life! I HAVE BEEN FUCKING WASTING TIME ON THOSE SHITTY SOCIAL MEDIA APPLICATIONS.10 -
Fuck applications which repeatedly try to grab focus while starting up in the background. Yes, I clicked your little icon, you attention whore. But I'll fucking alt-tab to you when *I* am ready.5

"Im gonna buy an Titan V for gaming!"
-Le "Friend" of mine
me:
A Titan V is for research and AI Applications...
Le "Friend"
Ayy u stupid Titan V best card!!!11!
Fuck this shit im fucking out of here...4 -
I’m happiest about code I deleted.
Deleted code is easy to maintain, easy to read and it makes applications run faster.
Moreover applications take less disk space and are faster to download.
The more happy than about deleted code I’m about deleted software or destroyed computers.3 -
Well let's do this group rant thing.
I had to build 5 responsive Web applications in 3 weeks. Again Web applications, not websites. I slept a total of 2 hours per night in my car, and would go home every 3 days to shower.
I quit soon after.5 -
How NOT to make applications:
- single GET request called rather frequently
- 3304 SELECTs per request
- Some of them lasting ~50ms9 -
University logic - Provide outdated curriculum. Drop current relevant stuff from the course. Use a legacy software that has no applications anymore. Expect the student to be a master at a technology without documentation.5
-
Me a year ago:
// Pieces together a deadbeat crappy php-script
"Man... PHP is shit"
Me now:
// Gets paid to create controllers for php framework applications
"Man... PHP is THE shit!"4 -
Was looking at the TV schedule and saw that django unchained was on and for two seconds I actually thought that it was going to be a documentary on Python and developing web applications with django3
-
Rant, but also want to know, how the fuck do you accidentally drop a database link. In production. On the most important database. Housing our biggest applications.8
-
... when you ask someone for their IP and you get a 10.x.x.x back ... followed by a dump of their ipconfig, showing this IP as their VirtualBox Host-Adapter ... and this someone is a developer for web-applications ...3
-
I think I'm not the only one.
Code Applications every day in different languages, but too stupid to use Excel.4 -
I apparently got home drunk last night and watched half an hour of a talk on optimizing compression for web applications.
Now I'm caressing a slight hangover with coffee and watching the rest of it.1 -
Alright, I'm getting tired of reading job applications that have roles described as:
"Seeking unicorn"
"Seeking heroes"
"Seeking alien"
What the fuck.16 -
Computer applications 101
Teacher needs to use ctrl + X to cut but uses ctrl +Y then claims my word has expired. Walked out of the class.3 -
That moment when clients employees comment on your working hours and the amount of work you do...
Fun fact: I'm replacing their jobs with applications.1 -
Day 1 of my 1000 job applications TikTok challenge
Goal:
- apply to 9 different jobs per day
- see if i can break the Guinness World Record of being rejected 1 thousand (1000) times
Stats so far:
- 9 job applications
- 0 hires
Will be documenting this on devrant too7 -
We had all hands on developer meeting. There were 2 interesting bullet points:
- deliver fast
- make quality applications
I mean, these two points are not correlated 🙈10 -
Pathetic dev moments: Any time my macbook fans rev up, I worry that I'm working my baby too hard, so I start closing applications.3
-
Javascript.
It was created with a mind of writing simple scripts in browser not for some to attempt to write whole fucking applications (which seems to be a plague these days). Typed languages!6 -
when you have a million applications open on your computer because you're in the middle of some massive change and you come back the next morning to find out that your machine has restarted during the night...😲6
-
Oh gosh.. i can finally understand the CV and application nightmare stories... We're getting new people in, and there are quite a few interesting ones.
0) pages of randomly placed info. PAGES. I'm lost in there!!
1) no basic info whatsoever. Like, no nationality(we're recruiting internationally), no birthdate, barely his name and email. I know that the first ones are not really needed for the job, but they're still customary.
2) entry level back and/or frontend job. This guy's a phd graduate, working research with big data in a bio-something department. We're a web startup.
3) there are some listing so much unrelevant stuff, I'm not even sure if they meant to apply to us.
4) (my favourite) email subject: application, email body: empty, attached: short_application.doc ("hi, this is an application to the posted job. Best regards, Name") WAIT WHAT?6 -
Knowing the Linux command line saved my bacon!
I was on a plane, unable to connect to wifi, and needed to take a note... while not having any note taking applications or text editing applications on my phone. but what I DID have was a terminal application.
So, I made a file in my documents folder and echoed my notes into the file! A bit longer and more complicated than it needed to be, but it worked when I needed it to!12 -
- What actually programmers do?
- Developin web, mobile applications, etc...
- Cool, can u replace my phone's screen?2 -
Person: What are you doing for living?
Me: I am a software engineer.
P: what does that mean?
M: we build applications and websites. basically
P: like what?
M: I don't have an example now, but when you open your computer and navigate to a website, we build similar things..
P: ahhaaah, so you make computers
M: no no, *open Facebook on my phone* see this is an application, we made applications that run on devices.
P: so make phones, that's cool
M: nooo!
P: so you do nothing !
M: yes 🙄1 -
In my opinion flutter is the best for cross platform mobile applications
Better than ionic, nativescript and xamarin for now14 -
Online applications are so much worse than the classic snail mail ones, because some companies just don't seem to give a single fuck about the quality of their application application (hehe).
This results in such joyous things like:
• "Allowed file types: doc, docx, pdf, jpg, zip"
• "Max filesize 3mb"
• "One of your files does not meet the requirements" (doesn't tell you which)
• "Upload timed out, please try again"
• 403 forbidden
• "Your account does not have the necessary permissions to upload more than 4 files at once"
• clicking the submit button leads to a 404
• "Please explain why you want to work for us." 500 character limit
• Google forms2 -
On websites: "I don't want to see an arrow cursor on the buttons."
On desktop applications: "I don't want to see a hand cursor on anything!"4 -
companies: "we can't find good help!"
also companies: "we don't answer applications promptly, don't understand our own requirements, don't want remote, don't..."4 -
It's ironic how I could seem to get ms Silverlight working on windows 10 and now I got it working in Linux through wine
Seriously anyone who uses Silverlight in his websites or web applications should burn in hell7 -
Just saw a "Teen Kids News" show where they were talking about building complex applications like operating systems… and the background picture is some HTML meta tags…1
-
Me: JavaScript, you are crazy...
JavaScript: honey, you can not live without me... If you survive without me, leave now!!!
(That was three years ago)
and I am still writing #JavaScript applications -
250 errors in 3 applications this morning.
Then I merged two pull requests that I created yesterday and the error graph started decreasing. After 30 minutes the error count is back to 0.4 -
I tried a tool for analysing mobile applications, since then I keep receiving emails from them.. and this is what I received this morning. the thing is getting serious 🤨3
-
Boss: We don't want to use PHP because it's open source we want to keep all the applications secure and want Microsoft to support us whenever some thing happens to ASP.NET applications.
Me: But we will be using PHP on intranet applications and it won't be for public. ASP.NET is also open source.
Boss: No, we cant take that risk.
I'm not sure whose right over here. PS: All the applications we built are for internal purpose only.14 -
Why would anybody use dynamically typed languages? I mean it is lot safer to use static languages, no? No weird bugs, no weird outputs...
How they manage to write such big applications in dynamical languages?17 -
When your workstation has 32Go of ram but run 32-bits Os and applications, because a legacy app that a department somewhere doesn't work otherwise.4
-
Job hunt update:
- Rejected by one via email
- Applying to two more today
- Ghosted (?) by the other 5 so far
but hey, it's only been over two weeks for those 5 others! why should i expect efficiency from a company that wants a TeN X DeVeLoPeR? I'll bring my decade+ experience and you can just get around to it... you know, when you feel like!
🤡5 -
Is it technically possible if I wish for a time when I can switch between different OSs on a single machine with a smooth ease just like switching between workspaces or opened applications?9
-
Just found out that my script is creating duplicate data on standalone applications that are on the field already :)
Time for a coffee break. -
As it may be known, when it comes to job applications, experience is overrated. The simple reason is that years of experience doesn't mean expertise. You can be doing something the wrong way for 15 years, that doesn't make you a suitable candidate.
HR.. meh.4 -
Argh, I hate putting down hobbies and interests on job applications.
I'm partly a techy because I have no other interests!
But instead, I'm suppose to say I like to help Barbara work the till at the local charity shop2 -

How to know when you're bored?
You feel like building CLI based applications for social media like twitter (And i swear i didn't steal the idea form the devrant version of this)11 -
There is nothing quite so arousing, than getting your own VPS and hosting your applications*
*Not including boobs.2 -
My friend's Client Programming (JavaScript class)'s professor wants their students to use pure JavaScript to make applications that works on IE 6 and up...4

My computer should prompt me to install updates when shutting applications down rather than opening them3

Trying to develop Java applications in Windows...
sed s/Java applications/anything/g
'sed' is not recognized as internal or external command, operable program or batch file
*sigh*3 -
I thought nobody actually use directly CSS instead using a framework that hiddes it for real applications.
I thought it until meet my frontend coworker. He not only uses it, also understand it.
Admiration has born inside me.10 -
This node.js stuff had better be worth all the preaching I hear about here.
Time to build some web applications! :D2 -
Since I started working at my current job, I've been growing to admire agile development more and more (or the ideal at least) to the point where I manage my LIFE with an agile perspective now!
It honestly works so well! 😁3 -
Connected a keyboard to a classmates computer without him knowing. Started typing random words and closing applications as he worked
-
We have a bunch of legacy applications that runs on Windows only. I'm pretty much the only dev here who doesn't use a Windows machine.
In order to run those applications, I need use remote desktop to a Windows VM.
I use a Mac. And I use a lot of keyboard shortcuts. Case in point, CMD + L to go to the address bar in the browser.
This happens every time when I need to access those applications.
me: *remote desktop to the VM
me: "oh I need to get to the index/landing page"
me: *CMD + L
VM: "I'm locked now"8 -
Sometimes I think at least 40% of showing productivity relates to how many applications on your screen are colored in Solarized Dark.5
-
Did technical interview yesterday, rejected today. As expected. Nothing new.
my 1000 job applications tiktok journey might continue9 -
I seriously think my Laptop is slower than me when it comes to switching between workspaces and applications.
-
When I was assigned to develop my first app with web sockets. Since I fall in love with reactive programming and real-time applications.1
-
I sexually identify as Objective-C
I actually would love to write everything in objective c
Even my node/react applications7 -
@Gilles had a similar rant and reminded me of a story...
As a kid I learned QBasic. Moved to VB5 and later VB6. Because of this 'knowledge', I was the one who had to maintain legacy applications at my previous job. All of those applications were in use at various banks. On first work day in 2011 all hell broke loose - no date input control would accept the date anymore. I quickly discovered that the max year on date inputs was set to 2010. Later, I was told that nobody expected these applications would still be used in 2010 so they entered it as a distant future number. The funny part was that one bank was still running apps written in VB3 and I had to go back to basics. Didn't even know how to edit basic controls in that interface :D
Good times :)1 -
So, I apply for a job and they send me an automated email with my username....and my pasword....in plain text...I should use a different password for my applications....4
-
The moment I realized test cases are just super tiny applications that make use of parts of your codebase to run things and see what happens.1
-
My local government made a website where you can check whether your registration for covid vaccination has been successful because the bureaucrats keep losing people's applications.3
-
It's a sad fact of life that managing dynamic memory is a very difficult programming task. Some public domain X-Window applications are notorious for leaking like the Apple Computer board of directors -- Expert C Programming4
-
What's everyone's opinion when it comes to PWA's?
Do you think they will have the potential to replace most desktop and mobile applications?
Personally think they are a great platform and could definitely see them replacing lots of current applications but feel like the web technologies can't catch up to some of the major requirements for higher level apps like game engines or games...10 -
I forgot how much effort job applications were. Like, just writing a cv is a lot of effort, then some companies want a cv and then answer some interview style questions too 🙄3
-
Just got told by our designer that I was wrong about the "mobile first" approach when designing web applications. She insisted that creating unique pages for each platform was the best way.
I must have missed that memo.2 -
Pleased to tell you all that after countless assessment centres and applications, I finally got a job for after graduation!6
-
Switched from php/laravel dev to frontend JS dev.
Decided to free up diskspace by uninstalling unneeded applications like MAMP, phpstorm and composer.
Feeling a little sad :/
Goodbye old friends since I spent 100 hours mastering you.11 -
Tired of the same old boring progress bars in my applications, so I made this little gem to keep users busy during slow operations. Bonus: no more complaints about things taking too long. (personal high score is 119)3
-
I love developing JavaScript for Node.js applications until i have to create sequence diagrams with a lot of async calls :/4
-
I went to an interview yesterday and the director of IT department asked me what are the differences between mobile applications and web applications... Seriously what kind of questions is this??5

Rejection 2 / 1000 of my 1000 job applications TikTok journey
Another vague response. It appears to me as if all of these companies are looking for a top 0.1% FAANG engineer and pay him $600/month7 -
for now i'm fueled by rage
started building a new SaaS app
similar to my other one, in the fintech space
literally all i need is 50-60 subs and i can do this, as well as courses and educational content full time!
we'll see...4 -
I know compiled languages will always be the norm for performance applications and operating systems. But do you guys feel like general purpose applications are moving away from compiled languages to interpreted ones? Web apps are exceedingly common now, and even many server infrastructural applications and services are being coded in interpreted languages. Am I observing accurately, or is just maybe my exposure?12
-
Learning institutions move so slow. Kotlin and Swift are nowhere to be found in this mobile applications course.8
-
Funny how fucken emojis, which came into applications (web or even native) by completely overusing them on mobile, don't really work on mobile.1
-
How would you go about writing ES6 in your node applications? I'm using nodemon together with babel-core/register and then using a shell script on my server to build it.10

Instagram new API app submission models is a piece of crap ..
Mostly developers can not get applications approved ..
Public data should be accessible to developera -
Random number calling me:

My main area of focus is consistent therapy from working with PM's.
In other news, I work on the frontend design and development of internal web applications, good times. -
Why would anyone ever choose Oracle proprietary APIs for building web applications? I'm pulling my hair out trying to fix, yet, another Oracle ADF project... Why? Why?
-
Google Apps Script is probably the worst scum of the earth I’ve come across in a while.
Shit documentation and JavaScript 1.6, really?
No wonder nobody uses this crap and has proper implementation of a vast variety of applications.4 -
Any tips for attending my first hackathon? Keep in my mind I am not too well versed in applications with JS/Python. Also I really don't have a lot of real life project experience. I am super excited though.2
-
I think IT Applications is the only field where spending tons of money on something new that only does 50% of what is being replaced is considered a win.2
-
So windows is finnaly getting tabs for most applications... So of course they aren't called tabs and they are acting like they reinvented the wheel!4
-
What the shitbiscuit is happening with trying to build a single window, 200 line node project? Who thought it is a good idea to use ShitScript to write desktop applications?15
-
I don't see any job for application cracker :/
Sth like bug bountry but for android or windows applications.
Do U know any ?8 -
!dev
Well just saw guardians of the galaxy for the first time and.... Nope, didn't enjoy it...
I shall now retreat back to my safe space of coding half assed applications...2 -
I usually use external monitors. After I disconnect all monitors, why do some applications pretend it's monitor is still connected and appear outside the main screen?3
-
I hate job applications where it says Remote, but you would have to be from the same country as the company.3
-
I’ve been reading this book “Designing Data Intensive Applications” by Martin Kleppman. The concepts are really well explained !!2
-
Some of our applications use a Java keystore that requires a password. The password is encrypted and stored in a database. The applications retrieve it when needed, decrypts it and uses it. The password is..... password

Recruiter:
I've got an exciting new job opportunity for you!

The web applications were written by the current CEO [...]6 -
You gotta love it, when applications are distributed as AppImages and yet they require a fuckton of external libraries.
-
I've always loved to change technologies to work with...I developed Desktop applications, Web applications, android applications...and now I'm working on an IOS app and I have just one message to whoever came up with the brilliant idea of a drag & drop system for views in XCode:
I DO NOT RESPECT YOU AS A HUMAN BEING.
Sincerely,
Me1 -
Question: Anyone has any idea about localisation of applications ( Desktop, mobile )? Like how to convert the user interface text elements into local languages... etc..
Any other suggestion for localization events also welcome 😊7 -
Another cardinal sin: i use cortana. And she is useful. Get the pitchforks and torches you can send me to hell i have to maintain legacy php applications im acustomed to it.6

Do you think your job is fun?
So many boring jobs out there.. Examples:
- .Net services for some financial institution
- Java business applications for invoice record processing
Yeah, bore me more. Thanks. I prefer something more fun.10 -
AI applications:
We all know how AI is going to be powerful and drive the world in future. But I don't see any real world applications which can be developed using AI. If you know any real world applications please share here.
For eg. Traffic signals automatically managed by AI as per actual traffic?28 -
Ever forgot the root password of your remote server, my manager did. Now we can't run our applications because they need root/administrative privilege. 😂6
-
The worst part of getting ghosted or a rejection letter is that a scarcity mindset slowly build into you and there’s not much you can do about it.
Seeing success stories from others helps to boost morale a bit, but.. fuck!1 -
I find it hopeless to achieve anything with applications aimed at non-devs, such as PowerPoint. How the hell can it be so difficult to use the same theme in one presentation as in another? If it had been code, I would just have copied the XML, XAML, include, link, script or whatever code in whatever language on whatever platform from the old project and pasted it into my new project. But with "user-friendly" apps I have no control of how anything actually works. I give up, my presentation will be unthemed. Maybe it's for the better anyway, less distracting graphics.5
-
I am traumatized a bit by seeing so many web applications being "hacked" together by WP integrators.
We see a lot of shit applications when companies knock on our door to have a look at their "sick" systems built on shit like that.
Usually when we feel sorry for the company we stage it up. If freak WP applications had a proper debug log, the first line would read: [WARNING] Put me out of my misery. 😵
Worst of all is that usually we could've built the webapp for half the price the customer spent originally with a proper framework and architecture.3 -
Anyone please recommend any JAVA IDE to develop desktop applications which support drag and drop control supper like Visual Studio?18
-
It bothers me when applications faill and say that they have "experienced an unexpected problem with windows". If it was expected, the devs should have fixed it.
-
Those 'HR tools'. 'Workforce Management'.
Once the company commits to it, they stay in use long after their interfaces have become clunky, their features outdated. Pretty bad UX.
Expense reports. Time Sheets. Leave Applications.
I'm looking at you, Kronos. >.< -
I was introduced to disassembly/reverse engineering today. It's amazing how many production applications use isLicenseValid() or other helpful function signatures to assist in my practical learning :p I'm looking at you sublime text

I've been reading about quantum computing in finance and other applications (fascinating read, althought really dense), but one question now won't stop bugging me.
Context:
1) Blockchain applications are based on NP-Hard asymmetric cryptographic problems, and how hard it is to solve such problems in a really short time.
2) So called "Web3.0" is based mostly on Blockchain applications, but would still need significant advances in order to be practical.
3) Affordable and practical cloud-based quantum computing is not so far in the future, and could be used to crack most NP-Hard problems in short (polynomial) time.
Thus, my question: Is Web3.0 obsolete before it even begun?
I mean, if quantum computing takes on fast enough, it could snuff out Blockchain applications by giving those a shelf life so short it wouldn't be worth to delevolp for it. It would be like announcing the iPhone 14 and the 15 on the same breath, saying the 15 is only a quarter away - why would anyone bother with the born-obsolete tech?5 -
"We need to shift from designing applications to designing implications." - Anthony Dunne & Fiona Raby

Applications are now made vertical scrolling and everytime you refresh, it stimulate to be a slot machine . So it's basically a feeling of gambling that keeps you up and motivated all the time.
Phone applications are now turning into infinity novelty machine - machine that promises you some reward that never comes but it always could come , but in real never will .1 -
Hello y’all.
Could someone please show me what their/a good developer cover letter looks like?
It’s the thing that’s hardest for me at the moment3 -
How can i advertise my open-source applications to the community?
(Especially talking about Linux-applications)4 -
"I think design would be better if designers were much more skeptical about its applications. If you believe in the potency of your craft, where you choose to dole it out is not something to take lightly." - Frank Chimero

It is discouraging to realize that most people can be thieves if there are no consequences.
Proof: We cracked applications, video games, operating systems without a second thought. And yes, I still think it is a form of stealing.37 -
Applying for graduate software developer roles and it really pisses me off that most of these applications require you to first upload your CV and then ask you to create a CV on their website again. What the fuck? The only thing you need to evaluate me is my CV and my github link. I don't want to fill in a 1 hour fucking long form. It doesn't make any sense.1
-
Another day, another 14 job applications that have been ignored.
Except one. I got an email back from one, but it was some spam filter system notifying me my address is now unable to send them emails.
Why exactly would you send an email to inform the sender they've been blocked???4 -
caught in the loop of trying to get into a certain field but not being able to get a job to gain experience because I lack experience in that field
FML
on to writing more applications I guess2 -
The Berlin rental market is so bad that I have to spend my long weekend figuring out how to write a bot to send applications for me.. (or keep hitting F5 all day and still be too late)5

Okay so anyone experienced working with networking or VOIP applications are welcome to try to help me figure out a few questions I have.
1.) How do VOIP applications like Discord and Skype not have to require you to port forward before use?
2.) If I wanted to do stuff with sockets over the internet the user of the application would have to configure a static IP Address. but when Im using Discord, or a multiplayer game, or literally anything that requires connecting to people I dont have to configure a static IP for those applications but I do for mine?!?
3.) Is there any additional information I should learn about whilst trying to make my networking application (File Transferring application) work? or any links/PDF's I should check out?
These are kinda just things I haven't found answers to, and I didn't know where to ask.14 -
My manager wants me to add a caching layer on top of an API in 30 mins. Even to think about which part of the fucked-up system to cache will take more than 2 hours. How is anyone supposed to do it in 30 mins?
I just gave up after about 4 hours. Gonna sleep and start fresh tomorrow. Pretty sure, I'm not gonna finish it tomorrow either.3 -

Hey guys, I'm planning to rewrite multiple asp.net applications in my company using Angular 4 & WebAPI/Node APIs. Do you have any suggestions?
We have around 20+ small to medium size applications which I'm planning to rewrite. Since these applications can be run in different machines I'm thinking of integrating them in a electron app and sharing the desktop app to the users.
What do you guys think?
Do you think it's a good idea? How do I proceed with this ? Any inputs are welcome.4 -
Just finished a small project and don't know what to code next. Any suggestions? (Web / server based applications)4

Hi,
I'm c# programmer for many years and I did everything I liked with c#. Like windows applications, web applications and etc. And because of core framework I can install web apps even on linux.
I know difference between c# and python.
My question is, Do I really need to learn python? Or I can continue with c#14 -
Why the hell is everyone so obsessed with app updates? Don't you service your applications? They're just Devs making increments to their product!2

Is there any point in having a compositor enabled? I only see advantages in disabling any compositor. Google only tells me that it can prevent misbehaving applications' UIs from being garbled, but that hasn't happened to me either.9

We're in the future, folks! I love it when applications do this unexpectedly(only in my pet projects tho).1

I am laravel developer who just started to explore advanced part of it. I have a confusion with topics events and queues. Events are call when an action is performed in the application where as queues are job for repeated and long tasks. My question is when to use both of them? Can we use a queue inside an event?2

Anyone have experience with Toptal / Crew et. al?
Toptal’s screening uses Codility which seems to largely just be silly esoteric algorithmic problems rather than evidence for being able to code applications...
Anyone here made it in?4 -
my worst mistake was when I was using Ansible with AWS tags and I accidentally termianted a server that had been provisioned to handle users authentication and redirect them to their proper applications.

Honestly speaking, I don't understand all these homes about Java programmers not being able to C#.
I'm mainly a Java programmer and about 9 months ago, my team inherited a huge scope of applications developed in C#. I was forced to learn C# in order to support those applications and I have to say I didn't find the language that difficult...1 -
DB operating supplyer blames the applications.. Even if the statistics from oracle oda server clearly indicate that one of the nodes has some problems..

Databases are designed to support read heavy applications. A typical read write ratio is 10:1.
Is there a database that is designed to support a write heavy application?
What some examples of write heavy applications?9 -
I find it really annoying I'm so bad at designing applications, I always have to resort to CSS frameworks as when I try to design applications it looks awful and inconsistent. And also as I'm in secondary school still (high school) when I'm making stuff I have to work on front end as I'm the only person making it and normal users don't like using the terminal. The usage of some CSS frameworks, like bootstrap, is sometimes frowned upon.3

The only person I've met that went to a bootcamp was an ok dev. Didn' really know jack about anything besides simple crud applications though.

I prefer to write desktop applications or mobile applications (android). Only time I touched web-applications so far was for school.
Tbh, I hate it the way have to do it in school. vanilla js, no css framework, JSP backend (sometimes php 5.4) and that rounded up with eclipse indigo.
Let's not even talk about the fact that we never really talked about js or css in school, so that was even harder for me too begin with (still suck at both of them imo)
I can't express my gratitude for js and css frameworks. They make web development much more fun for me.
💖 laravel, vuejs, materializecss💖
Feel free to suggest me other things, I only completed 2 project with these1 -
