Two months ago, I went to an interview that I thought I aced... Time passed and I heard nothing. Got bummed cause it's one of the rare positions that doesn't require industry experience, plus a friend works there so that would be fun.
Yesterday tho, i received a phone call from said friend saying that he finally got an update on a situation (since the whole thing was kinda in the dark even inside the company).
Apparently, the boss who directly interviewed me fought to the nail to hire me cause I was most qualified (even tho I'm very modest and generally nervous as fuck on interviews), but was denied funds for the new department at the moment.
Still bummed about the whole situation, but god damn it feels great to know that I'm still the first choice if/when they get funds3 -

Does anyone know what the **day-to-day** differences are between working in IT (banks, hedge funds) vs tech (Google, Facebook, Netflix).
In my mind, I see Hell and Heaven. And there's a giant wall in between called "technical interviews + algorithms and data structures".
I'm on the Hell side... And not sure if I should climb the wall 😔

unlimited time is not the only problem. During that time I'd get hungry, cold and tired -- I need to afford to buy food, have a home with roof and warmth. So with unlimited time, I'll also need unlimited funds.
And if I had unlimited funds I'd spend most of my time AFK: buying a house, making it pretty, setting up my own lab and a solar+wind powerplant, recruiting some folks to finish my project for me. Then travel all around the world, while my code monkeys are busy making me famous for introducing new tech to the world - so new, that it'll change the way we live, that it'll change our communication, interaction and other habits. And then I'll be ready for the EternalLife underground project, where another set of teams of bio-monkeys will be busy making my consciousness alive after my body wears out.
If only I had all those funds...

Going back to WhatsApp seems inevitable as most of my contacts won't switch to other viable options like one such as Signal. But with the look of things it seems Signal isn't ready to grow or scale massively just yet due to the funds that may go down the drain without any income strategy. Why i cannot find partners to form a team to write mvp's and products ? Everyone either look only his company job either is too not-disciplined. I try to find what i am doing wrong in that. I can provide more info about that. Why no one wants to be a free "wizard" negotiating with his own terms (e.g. i want to work at night) and everything now is fitting on companies culture etc.4

Finally after 3 fucking months, 15-20 fucking meetings, I got sign off for a feature release. The development took 3 weeks and was completed in March end.
I know being a financial institution and feature was regarding system handling funds, business guys need to worry a bit as any mistake in code can mess up the funds disbursal. But fuckers took 3 months to give sign off.
However, it's finally released and I can relax for now. #peace -
Ya'll on Signal yet? Now that they are on the rise, they'll need funds and a revenue model. You can't depend on donations unless you're Wikimedia. Ok. This is going to be an odd one. (Maybe). I'm coming back here because you fine folx are my final intelligent option.
I'm looking for a site or system that will allow me to set up virtual bank-style accounts for multiple users and allow them to transfer funds between each other. All virtual, no real cash or cash-equivalent involved.
Something simple enough that I could run it off a spreadsheet (since that's what I'm currently using) but in a way that I don't have to change numbers every time someone wants to move money.
I guess in a way it would be similar to a very simple in-game economy. I could make payouts and users can trade funds. That's it.
