I was learning something and my girlfriend saw "Hello world" written on my screen and she got mad at me because I should've written "Hello [her-name]" instead... PMS is a hell of a drug12

Finally finished setting up my private Git Repo.
First tried to install Gitlab, tried 2 hours to fix it. Holy shit the configs were a shit piece. Ended up at the end with a 502 error.
Fucking hate Gitlab, go die you piece of shit for dedicated servers.
Removed it and installed Gogs. Had 25 Minutes to set it up completly and I'm happy with it. ✌️
Dont won't to spent 7$ on private Repos for Github, when I have my own high power dedicated Server 😜20 -
I like, that many code hosting sites are shutting down (Google Code, Codeplex). This does not mean those sites are bad.
The ones I like and use are GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket (and most personal ones like Gogs or GitLab CE).
Here is my list of the sites I don't like:
- Sourceforge
- SF
- sf.net
- sourceforge.net8 -
Any fun self-hosted app or useful services you guys use on your own server?
For some weeks I have started to host my own git repository with gogs and take continious development into my control with jenkins and feel pretty neat.
Now I understand why my grandmother loves to raise her own food even when she could buy everything in the supermarket.11 -
I was looking for a solution in some piece of code for half an hour but then I had to go. I took a photo of the code with my phone and then figured out the solution while I was on the bus :D5

Facebook's algorithm is so bad that I can't believe that. In the past few days I marked ~20 posts from the same person with the same/similar content as "Hide post - see fewer posts like this". And now, not that I see fewer of these posts, they are literally throwing all such posts of that person to my feed. I know that I can unfollow this person but I don't want to. I just want to filter out these specific posts (they are all the same, some link, image of an old black and white photo and some description).5

FFS why?! Just why....are people making things more complicated then they should be? And they use that for divs, headings, spans...16

Oh, the SORROW that is JEST! 😡
Endless days have been swallowed by the abyss in my quest to configure Jest with TypeScript and ECMAScript modules instead of CommonJS. Triumph seemed within my grasp until - BAM! - suddenly the tool forgets what "import" or "export" means. And the kicker? On the CI, it still runs like nothing’s amiss!
Allow me to elucidate for the uninitiated: Jest is supposed to be a testing safeguard, a protective barrier insulating devs from the errors of their peers, ensuring a smooth, uninterrupted coding experience.
But OH, how the tables have turned when the very shield becomes the sword, stabbing me with countless, infuriating errors birthed from Jest’s own design decisions!
The audacity to reinvent the whole module loading process just to facilitate module mocking is mind-boggling! Imagine constructing an entirely new ecosystem just to allow people to pretend modules are something they're not. This is not just overkill; it's a preposterous reinvention of a wheel that insists on being a pentagon!
Sure, if devs want to globally expose their variables, entwining everything in a static context, so be it. BUT, why should we, who walk the righteous path of dependency injection, be subjugated to this configured chaos?!
My blood boils as the jestering Jest thrusts upon me a fragile, perpetually breaking system, punishing ME for its determination to support whole module mocking! A technique, mind you, that I wouldn’t touch with a ten-foot pole, because, you know, DEPENDENCY INJECTION!
Where are the alternatives, you ask? Drowned in the abyss, it seems! Why can’t we embrace snapshots and all the delectable integrations WITHOUT being dragged through this module-mocking mire? Can’t module mocking just be a friendly sidekick, an OPTIONAL add-on, rather than the cruel dictator forcing its agenda upon our code?
Punish those clinging to their static contexts, their global variables – NOT those of us advocating for cleaner, more stable practices!
It’s high time we decouple the goodness of Jest from its built-in bad practices. Must we continue to dance with the devil to delight in the depth of Jest’s capabilities?
WHY, Jest, WHY?! 😭9 -
How do you deal with having too much work on your back but still wanting to help people around you, because you know they are good people and trying their best but they also have too much work to do?5

VS Code ships so many features with every release that I'm having diificulties keeping track of all cool stuff1

When you're all happy because you finally done with your task and there are fucking conflicts in like almost every file you worked on...1

Normally I don't give projects a lot of praise, but damn the gogs.io project made my life so much easier today. When compared to that ram guzzling, cpu thrashing monster of a git hosting software called Gitlab is
Gogs like a little slice of heaven.3 -
With pandemic work from home should be understand by the old school type of management. We have VPN duh!
-
Random but does anyone have experienced with hosting your own git server together with a frontend?
I don't want to solely rely on GitHub.
I've tried gitlab before but was put off by the ridiculous amounts of resources it needed.
Been thinking about gogs for a while7 -
It's finally weekend and I spent all night coding. Now I want to code more because I have so many ideas but my fucking eyes hurt!! C'mon eyes... recover faster!!5

Updated Android on my phone and I was looking for a full minute where's my music app... to find it's now called "Samsung Music" -.- what a great idea...

I don't understand the logic behind Linkedin messages where recruiters (or anyone else) write their name after "kind regards". It's not paper letter, their name and photo are clearly visible.4

Why some leaders are afraid of changes. Everything in the world change and adapt to the trend of responsibly remote working. We must count the productivity and not the negative impact of envious people that all they can do is sit down and pretending to be busy. We all know that the first step of success is to accept change.1

With all this uproar about MS taking over github I’m so glad I decided to go self hosted. I’m currently using gogs.io and have been for the past year or so. Granted it doesn’t have all the features that github/bitbucket does, but it’s also free for an infinite amount of users/private repos.2
