devRant has over 30k users within 1 year. Congratulations @dfox @trogus and awesome work. I would also like to thank my boss, project managers, colleagues and clients. They are the biggest contributors in devRant. lolz...

Just an observation. Researched this a bit and found out that usually people only thank dfox when posting swag thanks posts.

Just wanted to demand some justice for mr trogus who is the designer of said swag and give due appreciation!

Lets @trogus some to deliver the appreciation.

@dfox and @trogus, here's an idea! What if every 20th or so rant was an ad? But not any ad, but job ads posted by recruiters!
That way you get money and we get more stuff to laugh about!

devRant is really cool for us students because it gives us an insight into the real world of developers, something which a lot of schools simply don't give you. I would recommend anyone studying software or hardware (be it at school or in spare time) to get involved.

Servers are not cheap and it would be great if the community would finance itself.

So yeah, the name change is done. Me making a joke out of being called a code slut clearly backfired and people just started calling me a slut or inferring I was a slut or something unsavory because of an online username. Lesson learned. A few lessons, in fact.

This has been a longtime suggestion of mine for other apps and social media sites. People will pay a premium (even if it’s only $2) for quality; just ask Apple.

Yesterday way my one year devRant anniversary! It's been a good year guys and gals (and whatever genders are out here). I can't be bothered to look up rant counts etc right now because I'm in the middle of my exams and I'm fucking exhausted but a bit thanks to trogus and dfox for creating this awesome platform and also a big shoutout to all the awesome people I met through here and have good contact with :). On the 9Gag Android app, you can "scroll" up and down by using the volume up/down, if the music isn't playing. (I think you have to enable this in the setings).

Hey, here's a suggestion.

I bet that there are lots of people who cannot afford the supporter ++, monthly cost(like me), but still want that black theme.

And my suggestion is to have another way to get something similar, maybe a gold badge, and you get it when you reach a certain number of ++'s, E.g. 1000.

What do you think?

I was just listening to a podcast and they mentioned patreon. Not sure if you two, @dfox and @trogus, thought about creating a patreon page. I would definitely support you guys for the work and time you two put into devrant. Would be awesome to have some method to tip you guys some dollar for a tea ;)

How about adding feature and bug report in app?
Add it in more tab like the discussions.
When clicked, there will be two tabs called feature and bugs. We can report them and dfox can make a checkbox only for him to click when viewed. That way, it would be more efficient.

Have @dfox and @trogus abandoned devrant? The credit card that they've set for billing will expire/foreclose and one day devrant will just go down.
Does anyone have a backup of all rants and comments? Do we have any backup meeting place (bot free)?

Could we have option for being notified when particular user posts something? There are people here that i'd like to "follow".

I imagine it would need some granular control there (for instance being notified about user rants but not necessarily comments).
Also it shouldn't be visible for anyone - meaning that you don't know if and how many people "follow" you just to prevent it from being twitter-like outlet and popularity contest.

Hey @dfox and @trogus, I finally listened to your podthing today, and it was great. Andy Hunt is such an entertaining speaker and you both kept up well as hosts. I'm loving the quick fire questions; I feel like you can learn a lot about a person by how they answer those! Looking forward to S01E02.

@dfox @trogus : Do we have a feature of auto complete @ mentions ? If not, there can be an elegant feature to provide drop down suggestions to mention / tag user in comments after we type @ in comments of any rant ( not all the users , but author of the rant and those who previously commented on that particular rant previously. For example, if I commented on a rant of dfox, and trogus also comments and types @, me and dfox will be in the drop down, tapping on which will select and tag that user on that comment ). I bet users will love this devRant update. Sorry for long post , I don't have any potato :p

On the low, every time someone on here gives a suggestion on how to better the app, @dfox and @trogus are probably thinking "give us a break!"

@dfox and @trogus I was just wondering how do you support yourself and devrant? Do you have a day job or are you freelancing or is devrant making money to sustain you and itself?

Regarding the Aug 19 devRant update - I am amazed at what you guys do. We are fortunate to have @dfox and @trogus building devRant and listening to the community input. It gets better each month. Onward and upward!
